Story:

I’m Samson Sani Isah, a Nigerian residing in Zuba, Gwagwalada Abuja. I’m a graduate of physics and a former secondary school teacher. However, the meager pay couldn’t sustain my living, so I started a small laundry business from my room in December 2022.

My dream is to transition to this laundry business full time and make it a thriving enterprise. This will not only empower me but also allow me to give back to the community by providing job opportunities and internships.

Items Needed:

To kickstart my laundry business, I require a range of equipment, including washers and dryers, dry cleaning machines, pressers and steamers, sorting bins and racks, and more. These items are essential to providing quality service to my customers and ensuring the success of the business.

Estimated Cost:

The estimated cost of establishing this business is 3.8 million Naira. This includes renting a shop for two years, purchasing equipment, hiring one staff member to start with, creating a customer service area, and covering initial operational expenses.

Health Challenges:

Previously, I used to wash and iron clothes with my hands because I didn’t have the means to purchase the needed equipment. Unfortunately, this manual labor has taken a toll on my health. I often experience chest pain and painful coughing fits. Medical professionals have advised me that continuing this labor-intensive work may lead to more severe health issues.

Financial Hurdles:

Traditional lending institutions in Abuja have stringent requirements that I can’t meet. I come from a humble background, and my family, like many others, is facing daily challenges. Living from hand to mouth is a constant struggle, and I believe it’s time for a change.
